Reassignments!
The last couple weeks have been a ton of fun. Our district is starting to speak Portuguese much more quickly than before which makes speaking in Portuguese a lot more fun.
It's kinda fun to look at everyone's windows as our evening class ends. In Brazil, it's pitch black outside. On the east coast it's dusk, the sun is setting in Texas, and on the west coast it's still as bright as day. It's cool to have a class not only across the States, but across the equator.
Also, both my instructors know Portuguese/English and are learning Spanish. And they both said that English was easy to learn and that Spanish is very hard to learn. Definitely unexpected, but I guess that Portuguese and Spanish so similar that it makes it hard for them.
A couple of classes ago our instructor decided that we would learn the phrases better if we sung the phrases... so he turned on a beat in the background and had us rap the phrases. We were very surprised and there was a lot more laughing than singing.
So reassignments--- They reassign the whole district at the same time, so we were all very excited when the first reassignment came on Thursday morning. But then the rest of us had to wait until class ended at 8:00 pm to hear about our reassignments. In my district, 2 Elders and 2 Sisters were called to the Dallas Texas East Mission, 1 Sister was called to Tucson Arizona, 1 Sister to Louisiana Baton Rouge, and Elder Dupaix and I were both called to Arcadia California! This is crazy because I know the Mission President for Arcadia California since he lived just two streets away from me before his call and was my Stake President for most of my life. Like... I took care of his family's pet turtle.
The reassignment didn't come with a language, but I'd bet that I'm reassigned to English speaking and continue to study Portuguese.
I expected to be released for a few weeks before going to my reassignment, but I am going straight there from the MTC. It's a little sad because we were going to do some things together as a district during the interim time, but I am also super excited to get out there.
